I was invited to go surfing with my surf buddies in Guiuan Samar but I have never thought that I could go much further. While having a drinking session on my favorite place owned by a friend. Vincent mentioned that he will also go to Samar for some fiesta but earlier! I immediately tagged along. Now, the new plan was tag along with Vincent to Can-Avid Eastern Samar for a short time then, head to Guiuan to meet with my surf buddies. And that was basically it! But wait...
Can-Avid Eastern Samar
Got there on time for more than 8 hours! Its really far. and so far, I like it since it is very provincy and quiet. I was acquainted with the owners a very long time ago. We were playmates then when computers and playstations were not yet invented. Had a really great time there since it was their annual fiesta celebration and what makes it fun, is the famous Eastern Samar blackout! So no more noisy videoke sessions for you drunkards!! I was able to explore the place, got some few drinks and chill the days away eating yellow fin tuna, more yellow fin tuna and carabao meat!

Tubabao Island
We stayed at the mainland Eastern Samar for at least 2 nights and decided to go island hopping to the not so near and big waves protected and probably shark infested island of Tubabao! Its not a part of Can-Avid or Dolores, but is now a part of Oras, Eastern Samar which I think is further away. We were welcomed by boss Noel with exotic seafood! roasted seasnails baby! We also cooked our lunch at their place which is carabao skin stew (actually I dont really know what to call this one). After lunch, we visited the eastern part of the island which stunned me! the view is actually great. Big waves, sharp rocks, high cliffs, and seafoods which you can actually take from where you stand. This place is great but you cannot camp here though since there are "evil spirits" lurking! Even the adults didn't recommend us for an overnight at that place.

Since it was near sunset, we still have to get to the "other island" of the island where nobody lives. White sand beach, full of coconut trees and all. It was near sunset that time so we setup our camp and gathered firewood for the campfire later on. Nets were casted near the shoreline hoping to get the unlimited seafood king Neptune has to offer. The locals that we were with gathered coconuts and damn those coconuts tasted great!

We had this "drinking sessions night" again, got bit drunk and I think I may have fired 5 shots of the locally-made 9mm firearm. Lucky no one got hit or something. Probably alarmed or frightened that there were firing guns at wee hours of the night. lol

Then, we checked the nets that we left near the shore and got plenty of fishes. We gathered them all and wait till tomorrow for the cooking sessions! We also got a shark! lol

In the morning, fires were lit, and the pot was placed. The unlimited seafood fest officially starts! The locals also gathered heaps of sea urchins. Then, the rest of the gang came with the huge ass fish (pakul) which we grilled for hours and the best ones, the lobsters... lots of lobsters. I don't know how much weight I gained that day. lol

But we all have to go back to the other island since the boat from Tubabao to Dolores will be there. We stayed there for another night because the local fisherman gave us another gift, a very huge swordfish head! It was way bigger than my head. Cooked it nilarang style, bonfires were lit, the guitar sounds and the singing covered the silence, few bottles of gin were opened and we chill the other night away.

Although there were huge waves on the eastern coast of the island, it is not surfable due to the sharp rocks and all (maybe sharks). But on the other parts, i think its ok. I heard that there were surfing competition then but I don't know now. Didn't bring any boards though.
But we all have to say goodbye to that place. My friends have to go back home and do their stuff and I have to go to Guiuan Eastern Samar since my Surf buddies were already there for 3 days now. Well, there! The unexpected adventure of the bisdak bushcraft! lol
